Horseback Riding Lessons: 

Hillside stable currently offers two different horseback riding instructors, Kelly Morin ( English or Western Beginner through Intermediate lessons), and Christy Morin ( English or Western Beginner through Intermediate lessons) Lessons can be taught on our safe, reliable lesson horses, or bring your own horse. Please read more about our instructors and their rates below.

 

Lesson Cancellation Policy:

  • Any lesson cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at full price.

  • To cancel a lesson please call (860)748-1894 or email HillsideStableLLC@gmail.com. If it is short notice please call do not email, we do not always have the opportunity to check the email throughout the day.

  • Late arrivals -  If you are more than 10 minutes late for a half hour lesson, or more than 20 minutes late for an hour lesson it will be assumed that you are cancelling your lesson, you will still be charged for the lesson.

  • No Call / No Show - If a student does not call to cancel a scheduled lesson and does not show up for the scheduled lesson, all future lesson time slots that you may have scheduled will be forfeited. You will need to call the office and pay for the missed lesson. After which you can schedule a future lesson.

Lessons w/Kelly Morin:

English or Western (Beginner through Intermediate), taught by Kelly Morin a CHA certified horseback riding instructor, with over 20 years experience working with horses. Lessons are taught on our safe reliable, well trained lesson horses. Unlike most large stables we don't require you to sign up for high priced lesson packages. If you want to just take one lesson, that's okay with us. Lessons include learning to groom and tack up the horse.

 

Private or Small Group Lessons (depending on availability) :

1/2 hour = $30.00

1 hour = $40.00

Christy Morin offers English and Western lessons for beginner through intermediate riders. Christy has over 20 years experience riding and working with horses. She specializes in lessons with children.

* Please note lesson packages will expire 3 months from the time of purchase, all ride time must be used before the three month deadline or the remaining lesson(s) will be forfeited. Pony Rides!

By Appointment Only

Hillside Stable offers 15 minute lead line pony ride for children of all ages, for $15. If you have multiple children you have the option of them taking turns riding during the 15 minutes. Or we can provide additional ponies for $15 each for 15 minutes. Additional time can be added at the rate of $10 per 15 minutes after the first 15 minute session has expired. You just show up at your appointment time and the ponies will be there waiting to get started.

Meet the Lesson Horses:

 

 

Chip ( Chippin Dale Jr. )

Chip is a 7 year old registered quarter horse gelding. He excels at western pleasure, but also does some of our English lessons, pony parties and summer camp. Great for the beginner through the advanced rider.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Merry Legs:

Merry legs is a 7 year old registered half welsh pony. She is dapple grey and stands 12.2 hh. She does our english and western riding lessons as well as summer camp and pony parties.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Friendly:

Friendly is a 15.3 hh Quarter Horse Cross gelding. He is chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. Friendly is used for both our English and our Western lessons, as well as summer camp and pony parties. Friendly is 14 years old, and has been owned by Hillside Stable since he was 6 years old.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

D.C.   ( Designer Coo ) :

D.C. is a registered solid colored paint gelding. He's 15.1 hh, and is used in both our western, and english riding lessons, as well as summer camp. Great for those just learning to ride. D.C. is 11 years old and has been owned by Hillside Stable since he was just 2 years old.

 

 

 

 

 

Cocoa:

 

Cocoa is a miniature horse that stands only 34 inches tall (8.2 hh). He is used for our smallest riders those weighing under 50 lbs. He's used in our beginner riding lessons, pony parties and summer camp. Cocoa is always a favorite among our lesson horses.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Master:

Master is a registered Morgan Gelding. Master is 14 years old. Master is a very versatile horse used for both english, western and jumping lessons. Hillside Stable has owned Master since he was 2 years old.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sheelin:

Sheelin is a 10 year old bay thoroughbred mare, with three high white socks and a big blaze. Sheelin is used for our intermediate through advanced English, dressage and jumping lessons.

 

 

 

 

 

Cash ( Heir to Cash Assets ):

Cash is a 13.2 hh solid color paint pony. Cash is a bay. He is used in our children's beginner walk/trot lessons, for summer camp and for pony parties.
